UE Hiking April 6-10
Alright my hikers!
This week your task is to hike elevation. Just as before, you may need to get creative in order to find a way to accomplish hiking elevation that suits your level of comfort at this time, but I'll give you some ideas. In any situation, your task is to hike up 375 feet this week! This is to simulate hiking up Ensign Peak. Good luck!
Uphill, indoors
If you would like to stay in your house, there are several ways that you can "hike" up 375 feet. You can:
Do 375 High knees, either walking around your house or in place
Do 375 Mountain climbers. This is done stating in the push up position, then bringing one knee up toward the elbows, before returning the foot back to push-up-position, then bringing the other knee up towards the elbow. You can also look up "mountain climbers" on YouTube for a video tutorial.
Uphill, outdoors
Walk up 375 steps. This can be done if you have multiple steps in your house or even just one step.
If you don't have even just one step in your house, you can find a step outside or use the curb!
Uphill, Ensign Peak
Ensign peak is a beautiful hike to an outlook that is historical to Slat Lake City and Utah. The hike is short, but it is steep, ascending 375 feet in about 0.4 miles. It is located above the state capitol building and provides an amazing view of downtown and the valley. If you would like to get out and hike the Peak, here is a link that can give you more details and directions to the trail head.
Here are some pictures of the trail. If you can't go now, put it on your list of hikes to do!
